Watts Happenings in Bolivia 1 July 1, 2005

¡Hola Family and Friends!

We are safely in Cochabamba after travelling 3 days and 2 nights! And LAB (Lloyd Aereo Boliviano) didnt live up to their nickname of Lost All Baggage! All 8 pieces arrived, although a little worse for wear - I think tin trunks like Aunt Fanny's would be best. (I can't figure out how to do an apostrophe on this Spanish keyboard so pretent { is one, even though it looks more like a sideways mustash!)
We had a rather crazy last day at home - Kent and I trying to leave things in some order for those taking over for us (sorry, Eve and Cidalia that the library offices still have that tornado decor that seems to be my favourite!), which took us both longer than we expected so less time was left at home to get done what needed doing - a least a couple of days work squashed into a couple of hours sorry , Bonnie that the house wasn{t left as clean as I would have liked - and we{re not sure if we left Anna{s fish sitting on the counter - you could bring him to the Mustard Seed and someone there will feed him I think - unless you{ve alread sent him on the quick route to the Pacific!).

Limey who was to take care of our son, oops, I mean our cat, Latte couldn{t be contacted so Barb Warnock who witnessed the Watts at their craziest, took him home until Limey could be contacted.
At the airport it was discovered that almost all the suitcases were over weight. That's what happens when you're travelling with a pastor (many books), a librarian (many more books) and a teenager (many books, clothes, stuffies, cosmetics, school supplies, etc., etc.! Kevin and Cidalia Wensley, who were out to say good-bye saved the day by coming up with some more luggage and helping unpack and repack. I'm glad not to have to do that for another 13 months!

After airplane food (food?) and mostly sleepless nights we were pretty happy to land in Cochabamba. Ivan and Emigdio, the Canadain Baptist Volunteer coordinators and Marcellino, the principal of the Baptist Seminary were there to warmly greet us and help us transport all that stuff - they must be experienced with crazy Canadians because they brought a truck to carry the luggage! They offer to put us up at the Baptist Centre for a few nights until the apartment was fully cleaned and ready, but the thought of unpacking and repacking all that stuff was much scarier than a bit of cleaning. We were greeted by some unwanted visitors - los cocarachas (fortunately dead) and also a dear friend, Sara.

We are happy to be here and the altutude doesn't seem to be affecting (effecting, Jenny?) us like last time.

Thanks for keeping us in your prayers,

Love Susan, Kent and Anna
